Omar Haq has joined Qube as its APAC CTO. He's based in Hong Kong, the bank's third-largest office behind London and Paris, but one of its fastest growing locations. Excluding internships, Qube has 45 open roles in Hong Kong, 28 of which are in tech.
Before joining Qube, Haq spent four years at hedge fund Citadel as an APAC engineering lead. He was also previously a director of engineering at Jet, a Walmart-owned e-Commerce firm, and a VP of technology at Millennium spinout WorldQuant.
Qube's trader contingent is also strong in Hong Kong. According to the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, Qube has 45 SFO licensed representatives. Qube's APAC CEO is Erik Taro Hornmark, a former MD of Credit Suisse Securities.
Qube might be secretive, but its success speaks for itself. Bloomberg reports that each of its four primary funds were up 24% or more in 2024, with its $400m Moebius fund up 50%.
