'Utterly French' quant fund hiring modestly in Paris

Qube Research & Technologies is a growing quant hedge fund based in London that has previously been described as "utterly French," having been founded by a group of mostly-French Credit Suisse alums. The fund has been strengthening its Paris office.

Qube currently has around 260 employees in France, ~70 of which have joined in the past year, an increase of 37%.

Qube's Paris growth is continuing. Last month, Millennium senior portfolio manager Joachim de Lataillade joined as a quantitative research director in the French capital. De Lataillade previously spent 11 years at French quant fund CFM, where he was an MD and head of trading research for execution and short-term strategies.

Qube also made two senior hires from Brevan Howard in Paris late last year. Technical lead Jerome Vienne and PM Thomas Demarque joined as quantitative technology directors in August and Sepetmber respectively, the latter relocating from Brevan Howard's Geneva office. Both men initially joined Brevan Howard from Squarepoint Capital.

Paris is still Qube's second-biggest office, for now, but both London and Hong Kong have been growing fast too. Publicly available information indicates that London headcount increased by 66% in the last 12 months to 490; Hong Kong headcount increased 44% to 155. Hong Kong hires include Sam Hou who joined in December from the systematic trading arm of Point72. Hong Kong also has almost double the number of full-time open roles available as Paris.

Qube is also hiring in a newly-opened European office. Data science and quant research roles are on offer in Wrocław, Poland.

Paris remains one of Qube's top locations for interns, however. The fund has internship opportunities in quant research and development, as well as frontend and data engineering.
