Hedge fund QRT's Eisler quant came and went in three short months
People from deceased hedge fund Eisler Capital are appearing elsewhere. But sometimes they only appear briefly, like a beetle in mating season.
This has occurred in the case of Steffen Hippler, a former systematic commodities trader at Eisler Capital who joined Qube Research and Technologies in January 2026 before leaving again a few weeks ago.

Neither Hippler nor Qube responded to a request to comment for this article, but Hippler's short session at Qube is confirmed by the FCA Register, which states that he joined on January 22nd and left on April 2nd.
It's thought that Hippler moved of his own volition. There are suggestions that he has joined Tim Hayes, another former Eisler portfolio manager who's now at Hartree Partners, a commodities trading firm. Hartree also declined to comment.
Hippler's flight may not have been Qube-induced. At Qube, he was on the systematic digital assets trading team, but Hippler has long been a commodities trader and spent two years at Shell trading European oil and gas before Eisler hired him. At Hartree, he will be trading commodities again. Former Eisler colleagues point out that there is more money to be made in commodities than crypto now.
Hayes has commodities pedigree too. He spent 15 years trading oil at BP before his own stint at Eisler. Hippler may hang around longer with Hayes than with his brief colleagues at Qube.
