Indian HFT firm taps Hudson River Trading's ex-head of Europe to lead new London office
Western prop trading firms have been bolstering their Indian presence recently, but now an Indian firm is doing the inverse. It just tapped the former European head of a leading US trading firm to run a new London office.

Graviton Research has hired Ian Jack as its head of Europe, based in London. Jack previously spent six and a half years at Hudson River Trading, where he was CEO of its UK entity, 'Hudson River Trading Europe Ltd.' He left in early 2023, and spent the last two years as a consultant before arriving at Graviton last month.
A company spokesperson told eFinancialCareers that the firm "recently established a UK affiliate, which will act as a talent hub for European research and development," and that Jack will be leading it. Graviton will be hiring in both the UK and contintental Europe. The firm's site currently only lists three offices; two Indian offices in Gurgaon and GIFT City, as well as an one in Singapore.
Jack isn't the only hire in London, though. Heejin Yoon also joined last month to work on business development after a four-year stint at another electronic trading firm, Maven Securities.
Graviton was founded by Nishil and Ankit Gupta, both IIT graduates. The former was previously a portfolio management VP at Millennium spinoff WorldQuant while the latter was previously an intern at Deutsche Bank. Bloomberg reported in November that Graviton's profits for 2025 rose 17% to 11.8n rupees ($130m), making it the top performing India-native HFT.
