Citi's former EMEA of compliance found a new job but not in banking
The compliance function in investment banks is not what it was. In the period after the financial crisis, compliance teams were built up and jobs were plentiful. Not any more.

This might explain why although Dominic Hirons, the former EMEA head of compliance at Citi has got a new job, his new job is not in a bank. He has joined Shell, the energy and petrochemical giant, as head of compliance operations.
Hirons didn't respond to a request to comment on his new career. Before joining Citi in 2019, he spent over 11 years at Morgan Stanley and previously worked in compliance for Bank of America and deceased German bank Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.
It's not clear whether Hirons' compliance operations role at Shell will mean that he's working for the company's trading and supply (T&S) division, which focuses on energy trading. Shell appears to be boosting this team, though, and has been advertising for a head of compliance advisory in T&S, based out of London.
Hirons left Citi earlier this year as part of the US bank's Bora Bora job cuts during which it reduced management committees and eradicated senior staff. Many have yet to reappear.
