Hedge fund Brevan Howard suffered the departure of its head of quant analysis
Brevan Howard, the multistrategy hedge fund that's been hiking graduate pay and hiring-in inflation traders has also been losing technologists and now quants.

Chris Willis, the head of quantitative analysis at Brevan Howard, is understood to the latest to go away. Multiple sources say that Willis resigned this week. Brevan Howard declined to comment.
Willis has worked for Brevan Howard since 2012, when he joined as quant analyst. He spent five years at Coremont, the Brevan Howard spin-out which provides portfolio managers with portfolio management software, data and managed services. Brevan Howard insiders say that Willis was a key figure in the unit.
However, Brevan Howard has focused on bringing its technology back in-house since 2023. Willis returned to work for Brevan during that same year.
As we reported last September, Brevan Howard has lost at least seven of its most senior technology professionals in recent years. Now, Willis has left too.
Brevan Howard hired Mike Sanders from JPMorgan as its head of technology in 2024. Willis, who didn't respond to a request to comment for this article, is understood to have reported to Sanders. Sanders has hired some of his own people. They include Tim Mace from Man Group, who joined as head of AI last November; Joey Allcock, from Goldman Sachs as COO; Valdo Durrleman, the former head of desk strats at deceased hedge fund Eisler, who joined in January.
Brevan Howard has various technologists among its staff in Abu Dhabi. It's also building a technology hub in India. As the Indian hub grows, the Abu Dhabi team has been gently trimmed.
