Singapore hedge fund sheds portfolio managers after August pain
Southern Ridges Capital, the Singapore-based hedge fund founded in 2019 by former BlueCrest portfolio manager Mohit Khurana, was enthusiastic at the start of this year, and added multiple portfolio managers. After losing an alleged 3% in three days (according to Bloomberg) at the start of August, it's been moving in the opposite direction.

Southern Ridges didn't respond to multiple request to comment for this article, but by our reckoning, at least six portfolio managers have disappeared from the firm since August, voluntarily or not.
They include Shihao Fu and Jonathan Chew, senior macro portfolio managers, who both left in late August, according to regulatory filings.
Another four portfolio managers have left since. Filings indicate that Binoy John, Amit Kesarwani, Jonghyuk Kim, Divya Devesh all exited Southern Ridges in late September. John joined from Nomura in 2019. Kesarwani joined from Nomura, Kim joined from BlueCrest, and Devesh joined from Standard Chartered, all in late 2023.
It's not clear whether the PMs who've left have gone to rival funds or to lick their wounds. Amidst the exits, Southern Ridges seems to have slowed hiring. Some of those it recruited earlier this year are also said to have departed, although this has not been confirmed.
