Sellside hiring hotspots of late 2025: the visual you have been waiting for
If you like your information presented in an easy to digest format. Maybe as multicoloured dots, then we have something for you.
It is the 'global hiring heatmap' from financial services search firm Options Group and is posted below.
If you're wondering where the sellside hiring is happening right now, we refer you to the dark green dots. If you think you might be at risk of losing your job, pay careful attention to the red ones.
On balance, India looks like a fine place to be right now - unless you're in fixed income trading. You might struggle to get a middle office job in Australia. And you don't want to be a banker in Brazil. The US hiring market looks comparatively benign, unless you have the misfortunate to work in equities outside of equity derivatives.
Some of Options Group's coloured dots look curious - prime services hiring, for example, is only really strong in Asia even though banks seem to have had a strong year in the business. As with all simplified things, the dots aren't to be relied upon. In the small print, Options says: "this tool is not to be used in lieu of the exercise of independent judgement." Just because something is dark green, don't presume it will stay that way.
