The domestic arrangements of a New York portfolio manager married to a sexual wellness expert
If you work in financial services and you don't employ domestic help to assist with your children, maybe you're doing it wrong.
The Wall Street Journal reported at the weekend that employing a single nanny is no longer considered sufficient. In situations where both parents work, a team of household staff is becoming the norm.
Perry Dziekanski, a portfolio manager and former JPMorgan VP, and Alexandra Fine, a sexual wellness expert are pursuing the new maximalist approach.
Dziekanski and Fine are married and have three children. The WSJ says they spend $85k a year on 'a year on a team of seven that includes nannies, a home organizer, a handyman and a virtual assistant.'
This is considered a valid expense. Fine declares that folding laundry and arranging repairs detract from time that she is "present with my kids." - "“That’s not a philosophy. That’s math,” she also tells the WSJ.
Dziekanski is a senior vice president at Bayview Asset Management in New York, where he works in loan portfolio management. Fine is founder of Dame Products, whose many vibrating products can be viewed here. Last month, she wrote on Reddit that: "My husband is a classic finance bro, but with a mustache and a wife who makes sex toys. So he covers ~70% of our monthly expenses."
Writing on Reddit, Fine said she pays herself $180k a year. "I'm a kept woman. No, that isn't entirely true, but it feels that way sometimes," she reflected. We asked Dziekanski to comment; he didn't respond.
The WSJ also spoke to Christine Landis, formerly CEO of a fintech company and now CEO of a company that encourages parents to delegate low value tasks to an AI.
Landis informed the WSJ that she and her husband spend a combined $250k a year on household staff. He appears to be CEO of a financial technology software company. "My husband kills it at work. He has a crazy strategic mind and that’s sexy as hell! But I need him to think through things at home with that same intensity, so it’s not only up to my brain to perform the calculations," she wrote on LinkedIn a few months ago.
