Getting a job in a hedge fund these days isn’t the most nuts idea – and they’re well known for paying more than just peanuts. The latest to add staff is multi-strategy fund Verition.

Mark Almond joined Verition to be its head of support this week from fellow hedge fund Schonfeld, where he spent four years. Almond was most recently Schonfeld’s head of front office support and automation, and also headed up the fund’s DEI alliance family network. He left Schonfeld in March of this year.

Schonfeld cut around 150 people last year, including a significant number of tech staff. , The firm doesn’t seem to have suffered for it into 2024, however; its flagship fund, Schonfeld Strategic Partners, returned 11.8% by the end of summer, ahead of major rivals such as Citadel’s Wellington fund or Marshall Wace’s Eureka fund, according to Reuters.
