Hedge fund Schonfeld lost senior technologists, hired some new ones
As we have remarked here in the past, Schonfeld, the multistrategy hedge fund, might be able to benefit from upgrading its trading technology. Last April, it hired Thomas deBow from Alphadyne Asset Management as its chief technology officer. Now there are signs of a further shakeup.

In recent months, Schonfeld is understood to have lost three senior figures from its technology and quantitative function. It's also added two new ones.
Tom Van Riper, the fund’s New York based-COO of systematic strategies is understood to have resigned to pursue other opportunities. Natalyas Dmitriyeva, the New York-based head of enterprise data who joined in 2022 after 18 years at Two Sigma, left too. So did Ziad Afra, the head of core infrastructure and technology operations, who was based in London.
Amidst the departures, there are hires. Schonfeld availed itself of Neal Secher as head of core technology and Nick Hopkins as head of enterprise data. Secher joined from TD Bank. Secher and Hopkins appear to be occupying the roles previously held by Dmitriyeva and Afra.
Data released by Business Insider says Schonfeld was up 6.6% year to date through to the end of August.
