Hedge fund Millennium hired hedge fund Schonfeld's top equities recruiter in London
If you're looking for a steady career with growing prospects adjacent to financial services, you might consider business development in hedge funds. It's all the rage.
In April we reported that Eleanor Sharkey, Citadel's London-based head of business development for international equities was moving on. Sharkey has yet to turn up elsewhere, but while she sits out the market another senior equities business development executive (BDE) in London has also moved. Sameer Buch, the former head of EMEA fundamental equity business development at Schonfeld in London has joined Millennium.

Buch's new job title is unclear. We suppose that he will help Millennium find new equities portfolio managers in London. Millennium moved the legendary Peter Santoro, its co-global head of equities, to London in late 2024. This February, Millennium hired Erdit Hoxha Goldman's recently promoted London co-head of equities. It's also made hires that include Niall Barton from Maven Securities and Adrien Delattre from Eisler.
BDEs are known as professional schmoozers with large entertainment budgets and are seen as more than mere recruiters. The career is increasingly appealing. Citadel has just recruited Rohan Yadav as a more junior fixed income BDE in London. Yadav previously worked in investment research for Akasia and presumably thought BDE is a better option. Buch has a first class degree in economics from Warwick University
