Deutsche Bank's head of metals trading left for a quant hedge fund
2023 was the year of hedge funds hiring for their commodities teams, and it seems like 2024 has been a continuation of the same. This year, however, has seen a focus on niche areas like metals, which might be why Deutsche's head of global metals trading has left months before year-end.

Dan Timošenko, whom Deutsche Bank hired from HSBC in 2017 as it sought to rebuild its metals trading business, has given up on the task. Timošenko has left DB and is joining Qube, the quantitative hedge fund that has hired swathes of people in 2024.
Timošenko will be joining Qube's existing metals trading team, which was created five years ago. Qube declined to comment.
Timošenko's exit comes amidst what Bloomberg described as a "hiring frenzy" for metal traders who are also in demand by metals trading houses. Compensation in the area is up 25% year-on-year.
Qube pays well. Last time we looked, pay per head there was £697.3k per head.
