About Northern Trust

As a global leader in innovative wealth management, asset servicing, asset management and banking services, Northern Trust (Nasdaq: NTRS) is proud to guide the world's most successful individuals, families, corporations and institutions.

Since 1889, we have aligned our efforts with our three guiding Principles That Endure: Service, Expertise, and Integrity. Together, they reflect the three cornerstones of business conduct which we strive to instill in our employees, whom we call partners, and to provide to our clients and the communities we serve worldwide.

With more than 135 years of financial experience and over 24,000 partners, we serve the world's most sophisticated clients using leading technology and exceptional service.

Role

Audit Services is offering an exceptional opportunity for you to showcase and expand your knowledge in Credit Risk Management within the Finance and Chief Administrative Office (CAO) team, which is responsible for audit coverage across Finance, Treasury, Credit Risk, and CAO activities. You will join a global team of experts whose common goal is to provide independent and objective assurance and consulting activities that assess risks and protect the assets, reputation, and sustainability of Northern Trust.

We are seeking an eager partner to help enhance our audit strategy and grow our credit risk audit coverage by assessing key controls supporting credit risk management activities across both traditional banking and Treasury & Markets businesses, inclusive of counterparty credit stress testing, netting arrangements, credit limit monitoring, origination and underwriting, Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) calculations, and Single Counterparty Credit Limits (SCCL) and Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) interpretations and calculations. As a subject matter expert, you will be expected to work directly with senior leaders and external regulators to build trust and assurance. In addition, you will liaise with other teams in the Audit Services Department and help strengthen the department's skills through knowledge sharing discussions and internal training, as needed.

Through collaboration with other team members, you will assist in the end-to-end execution of audit engagements and gain exposure to senior management across Northern Trust. Success is measured through the quality of the documentation, integrity of the assessment, timeliness of deliveries, and your ability to foster relationships both internally in the Audit Services department and with key stakeholders. Experience in data manipulation, transformation, and reconciliation is essential.

Skills / Experience
  • Extensive expertise in credit risk management activities via working in the first line (e.g., trading, market execution, treasury, financing or exposure management activities), second line (e.g., risk management oversight, limit setting and monitoring), and/or third line (e.g., internal audit) at a global financial services firm or through a similar regulatory supervisory role
  • Skilled at confirming compliance with global credit risk regulatory requirements (e.g., Basel III, Basel III Endgame, large counterparty limits, US Regulation Q, EU Capital Requirements Regulation)
  • Advanced degree in corporate finance, economics, mathematics, or statistics; or a relevant professional certification (e.g., ACA, CPA, FRM, or equivalent) is highly recommended
  • Experience within Treasury & Markets, counterparty credit risk, stress testing, or related risk management activities would be highly beneficial. Knowledge of auditing techniques and approaches within the financial services industry would be advantageous, though not essential
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a global audit team across multiple time zones and jurisdictions.

Applicants must have the right to work in the United Kingdom at the time of application and for the duration of employment.
