Rate: Up to £530 per day (Inside IR35)

About the Role

We're supporting a major enterprise technology programme seeking a Senior DevOps Automation Engineer to help drive automation, platform modernisation and engineering best practice across a complex environment.

This is a hands-on role requiring deep automation expertise, strong technical leadership capabilities and proven experience operating within IBM Z environments. You'll work closely with engineering teams to improve delivery pipelines, automate operational processes and drive DevOps maturity across the organisation.

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing and implementing automation solutions across enterprise platforms.
• Building and enhancing CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Driving DevOps best practices, governance and engineering standards.
• Developing automation using Ansible, Python and API integrations.
• Supporting platform modernisation and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers across delivery teams.
• Working closely with stakeholders to improve automation and release capabilities.
• Identifying opportunities to eliminate manual processes through automation.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years' experience in DevOps, Automation or Platform Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years' experience working within IBM Z environments.
• Experience with zOSMF and zOAU would be highly advantageous.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Jenkins
• GitHub
• Ansible Automation Platform
• Python
• HashiCorp Vault
• API Integrations
• Nexus
• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise automation solutions.
• Strong understanding of DevOps governance, controls and compliance.
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.
