Calibrium is an independent, professional and regulated investment office providing bespoke investment services to a select group of clients. We are looking for a highly motivated professional to join our company as an
AI Platform Engineer Intern
Location: Zürich, Switzerland
Starting Date: As soon as available
Duration: 6 to 12 Months, Full-Time
Your Role
We're building a next-generation, AI-enabled operating platform. This internship sits right at the center of that journey, combining technology, data and AI in a single role.
You'll join our IT team as a junior builder, not just a support hand. You'll get hands-on exposure to our technology landscape while taking real ownership of automation and AI initiatives that help design, build, and improve the capabilities supporting our transformation strategy.
We're looking for someone who is curious, structured, and eager to understand how things work. Someone who builds systems, not just maintains them, and who can turn recurring issues into documented, repeatable solutions through scripts, runbooks, better tooling.
Key Responsibilities (You will learn and grow into these)
- AI-Enabled Automation: Identify bottlenecks in manual processes throughout the business and IT lifecycle (e.g., data quality checks, reconciliations) and prototype automated and agentic solutions with the help of Python and AI tools (e.g. LLMs, coding agents, modern development environments).
- Digital Transformation: In partnership with Business areas, assist in migrating automation “prototypes” into scalable and “production-ready” business solutions. You will also work with Python and no-code tools within the Microsoft ecosystem (e.g. Copilot, Foundry), to drive rapid productivity gains.
- CI/CD & Deployments (GitHub → Ubuntu/Docker): Support build, integration, and deployment of internal services via GitHub into an Ubuntu server and Docker environment, including basic database integration with Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL).
- Data Platform Support (Semantic Layer): Help define and implement a semantic layer on top of the existing data platform to enable consistent business definitions and metrics.
- Data Quality & Governance Collaboration: Liaise with Data Owners to define data quality standards, measurement frameworks and issue tracking processes.
- Reporting & Visibility: Create simple reporting and dashboards to provide transparency on data governance and data quality
- Infrastructure & Migration Support: Support rollouts and enhancements of internal infrastructure and assist in migrating services to a Unix/Linux, Docker, and database-driven environment. Document solutions and tasks in ITSM ticketing and collaboration tools.
Qualifications & Skills (Intern Level)
We are looking for a proactive, curious individual with strong ownership mindset and a genuine interest in understanding how systems work end-to-end. Above all, the right attitude is essential.
- Education: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Entrepreneurship: Builder mindset with high ownership—proactively identifies opportunities, works independently, and turns ideas into structured, tangible solutions.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to diagnosing and resolving issues across software, hardware, and networks.
- Programming/Scripting & SQL: experience with Python and/or shell scripting, plus basic SQL (ideally SQL Server/MSSQL) to query data and support integrations.
- Discipline & Documentation: Strong attention to detail and ability to document work clearly (tickets, runbooks, and simple diagrams) and follow internal processes.
- Linux/Docker & CI/CD Curiosity: Motivation to learn how services are deployed and operated using GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, Ubuntu/Linux servers, and Docker containers.
- Communication & Collaboration: Team-oriented and service-minded; excellent command of written and spokenEnglish (German is a plus).
- Business–IT Collaboration: Ability to bridge technical and business perspectives and translate definitions into practical implementations
- Finance & Business Knowledge: Prior exposure to financial services is advantageous. Motivation to understand investment products, business processes, and how technology can be used to improve and transform them.
