For one of our clients, a leading global biotechnology company located in the greater Lucerne area, we are currently seeking an MES Engineer (m/f/d) to join the Manufacturing & Supply Division in Schachen.

About the Role
We are looking for a motivated MES Engineer (m/f/d) to support the implementation, configuration, validation, and maintenance of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions based on Werum PAS-X. In this role, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of electronic manufacturing recipes and design standards, while providing technical support to manufacturing operations in a highly collaborative and cross-functional environment.
As part of the Process Automation MES team, you will act as a vital link between early-stage development and commercial manufacturing, helping to drive innovation, digitalization, and continuous improvement across manufacturing processes. You will work closely with senior MES specialists and the Process Automation MES Lead to simplify, standardize, and optimize MES solutions that support business and production objectives.

You will work closely with senior MES specialists and the Process Automation MES Lead to simplify, standardize, and optimize MES solutions that support business and production objectives.
Your responsibilities:
- Inspire Diversity and Inclusion - building effective working relationships within a cross-functional team across different cultures and backgrounds.
- Configure, build, and maintain MES (PAS-X) GMBRs and recipes in line with established Design Standards and site requirements.
- Execute test, verify, and document activities in support of GMBR releases and system changes.
- Provide day-to-day MES (PAS-X) support to manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting of recipe execution and electronic batch record (EBR) issues.
- Support investigations and deviations by helping identify and resolve MES and automation-related problems.
- Prepare and execute Change Controls under guidance, ensuring they are raised and closed on time and in compliance with quality standards.
- Support MES administration and maintenance activities to ensure automation systems remain in a validated state.
- Support the integration of PAS-X with the site automation layer (e.g., DeltaV Level 2 batch integration) and with SAP (COMET/iMES) under the direction of senior engineers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of business process flows and technical MES workflows.
- Support the development and updating of automation SOPs, training packages, and delivery of MES trainings to end users.
- Ensure all documentation is compliant with SDLC requirements.
- Support Tech Transfer of process technologies from early-stage pipeline facilities from an MES perspective.
- Any other duties assigned by Process Automation MES Lead.
Your Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Life Science discipline or equivalent practical experience of at least 2-3 years of experience in MES area: PAS-X system experience is a strong advantage.
- At least 2 years of experience in Automation or Engineering function for Biologics, Food, Medical Devices, or Pharmaceutical Industries.
- Working knowledge of computer validation/SDLC requirements and change control procedures (e.g., GAMP 5).
- Hands-on experience in, MES GMBR configuration, testing, and execution support, PAS-X system experience is an advantage.
- Awareness of MES integration concepts, including MES-to-automation (e.g., DeltaV) and MES-to-SAP interfaces, is an advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and to know when to escalate for resolution.
- Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a hands-on, detail-oriented mindset.
- Effective oral / written communication skills in English (B2/C1).
- Exposure to commissioning and validation, test protocol execution (e.g., Kneat eVal), is an advantage.
