A privately owned banking group headquartered in Switzerland, with a presence in 10 international jurisdictions across 4 continents, requires a CEO for their South Africa presence. The bank has 10 branches across South Africa and the CEO will be based in the Durban office.

The new CEO will be a sensible change agent who builds thoughtfully around the existing team. He or she will be able to help the current relationship management team improve its existing skill set. The new CEO will have excellent people management skills and develop the existing bench and deepen it with a view to succession planning for all key roles.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned international commercial banker with strong drive and general management skills. While commercial banking knowledge and experience is essential this should be underpinned by thorough understanding of credit. This business building role will help shape the future of an international bank building on its excellent client base, strong financial performance record and long-established network. In addition this role will require working with the South African regulator, South African Reserve Bank.

 Qualifications

20 years of commercial banking experience having managed a country, region or line of business in an international or regional financial institution

International financial work experience; candidate should preferably have South Asian background, and some South African work experience

Strong academic background, MBA preferable

Cultural sensitivity, maturity, and ability for cross cultural communication

Ethical professionalism, upholding highest standards of integrity and trust
