As a Linux Platform Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, security, and compliance of enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) platforms. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing OS certification processes, testing security patches, supporting large-scale server environments across both on-premises and cloud infrastructures, planning ESXi/vCenter upgrades, and developing automation scripts for streamlined deployments.
What You'll Do
- Manage operating system certification processes, baseline configurations, and system hardening to ensure all platforms meet stringent security standards.
- Test and certify security patches regularly to maintain compliance and reduce vulnerabilities across enterprise Linux server environments.
- Maintain operating system currency by adhering to configuration standards and implementing lifecycle management best practices.
- Support large-scale server environments spanning both on-premises data centres and cloud platforms, ensuring operational stability at all times.
- Plan and execute ESXi and vCenter patching as well as upgrades, coordinating with teams to minimise disruption during maintenance windows.
- Develop automation scripts using tools such as PowerShell, Ansible or similar technologies to streamline platform deployment and improve efficiency.
- Provide dependable support for weekend changes and patching activities, collaborating closely with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain comprehensive runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical documentation for all managed systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement ITIL processes including incident, problem, and change management for enhanced service delivery.
What You'll Need
- More than 5 Years expeirence in RHEL Red Hat Linux Server versions 7 through 10 with proven experience in server builds and OS lifecycle management
- Proficiency in automation and scripting using tools such as Ansible or Terraform to enhance deployment efficiency across distributed platforms
- Hands-on experience with virtualisation technologies including VMware/Nutanix for managing clusters, vSANs, HA/DRS configurations.
- Solid understanding of networking principles, storage solutions, and security fundamentals relevant to enterprise environments.
- Experience working with Red Hat pacemaker clustering for high availability solutions within complex infrastructures.
- Prior experience in fintech or banking environment would be an added advantage
