My client is looking to hire a sub team head of the ALM team, mostly responsible for the ALCO and Balance Sheet division. This sub-team head will look after a team of 3.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a small team responsible for the development, enhancement, and execution of asset and liability management (ALM) frameworks, policies, and governance processes.
- Support the formulation of strategic business plans and annual budgeting exercises by evaluating financial targets, resource utilization, and performance indicators.
- Conduct regular analysis of balance sheet structure, funding profile, and business performance to optimize asset and liability allocation and improve overall capital efficiency.
- Monitor key balance sheet metrics and provide insights to support effective liquidity, interest rate risk, and funding management.
- Coordinate and facilitate Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) meetings and other management review forums, ensuring timely reporting, analysis, and follow-up actions.
- Collaborate with relevant business and support functions to ensure alignment between business growth objectives and balance sheet management strategies.
- Contribute to ad hoc analytical projects and strategic initiatives as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in the banking industry, with strong exposure to asset and liability management, financial planning, budgeting, balance sheet management, or business performance analysis.
- Solid understanding of commercial banking operations, including balance sheet optimization, funding management, and financial performance monitoring.
- Professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, CPA, or equivalent would be considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and management levels.
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese; Mandarin capability would be a strong advantage.
