We Offer
APAC Global Markets Legal is seeking a full-time Lawyer responsible for Legal Support to the APAC Cash/Prime Business and in particular support of a broad range of Equity products. GM Legal is responsible, among other things, for coverage of Equity product areas including cash equities, prime brokerage and derivatives trading.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Negotiating derivative and trading agreements (e.g., entity specific terms and conditions, electronic trading agreements, commission sharing agreements, clearing agreements, ISDA documentation, and prime brokerage terms). You would be advising on all transactional and regulatory issues relevant to such agreements
  • Providing day-to-day legal advisory support to the Equity Trading and Sales desks on legal and regulatory issues, equity transactions and related services across the Asia Pacific region. This includes advisory on new regulations which may impact such activities (e.g. Margin Reforms/MiFIDII/EMIR)
  • You would be assisting with the Bank's industry advocacy and representation in key industry working groups (e.g. ISDA/ASIFMA)
  • You will be supplying legal input to business-led projects
  • You will draft tailored legal documentation, where required
  • You would be analyzing and reviewing jurisdictional requirements, and regulatory changes and developments
  • You will be working closely with Compliance and other Legal Teams in relations to market/regulatory developments and client contracts

You Offer
  • You should have 2-4 years post-qualification experience, including experience in a reputable Law Firm
  • Your equity derivatives expertise and experience would be advantageous (including a background in Hong Kong securities and derivatives laws/regulations)
  • You have strong drafting and communication skills
  • You have the ability to identify, assess and summarize legal, regulatory, commercial and operational risks
  • You are a teammate who is also able to work independently in a rapidly changing environment that requires personnel to handle multiple transactions and projects at a time
  • You have the flexibility to work long hours when required
  • Preferably, you are able to speak Mandarin, and read and write Chinese, but this is not essential. The reason for this requirement is because this position will need to be able to liaise effectively with our China business and read and write documents in Chinese
